Inside PARCC: Two Weeks at the Heart of Biomedical Research
From June 15 to 26, 2026, PARCC opened its doors to a group of high school students for an exceptional two-week work experience program. Through laboratory immersion, hands-on activities, cutting-edge technologies, and direct interactions with scientists, students discovered the many facets of biomedical research.
At the Paris Cardiovascular Research Center (PARCC), inspiring younger generations and sharing our passion for science are core priorities. This summer, we are delighted to welcome a group of high school students for a two-week immersive experience designed to provide a comprehensive overview of modern biomedical research.
The goal? To challenge common misconceptions about research laboratories and introduce students to the diversity, interdisciplinarity, and societal impact of scientific careers.
🚀 A Comprehensive Program: From Concepts to Practice
Thanks to the commitment of our teams, students followed a rich program built around three main pillars:
Exploring Technological Platforms
Students discovered state-of-the-art research technologies through guided visits and presentations of PARCC’s major facilities, including MRI, histology, flow cytometry, non-invasive imaging, and confocal microscopy platforms.
Science in Action
Through practical demonstrations and hands-on workshops, participants gained insight into the daily activities of researchers and learned how scientific discoveries are generated and translated into biomedical advances.
Discovering Interdisciplinary Research
Modern research extends far beyond the laboratory bench. Students were introduced to bioinformatics, mathematical modeling, data analysis, and the essential support services that contribute to scientific excellence, including information technology, administration, and technical operations.
👥 Meeting the People Behind the Science
Beyond technologies and experiments, this program was above all a human experience. Through discussions and exchanges with PARCC members, students discovered the diversity of careers within a research center, including physician-scientists, academic researchers, engineers, technicians, and PhD students.
Major scientific themes such as cardio-oncology and cardiovascular medicine were presented to illustrate how fundamental and translational research contribute directly to improving human health.
👏 A Warm Thank You
PARCC warmly thanks all researchers, engineers, technicians, administrative and technical staff who dedicated their time, enthusiasm, and expertise to guiding and inspiring these future scientists.
We hope this experience has sparked curiosity, fostered new vocations, and provided students with a unique insight into the world of biomedical research.
