Green PARCC: Achieving New Milestones in Research Sustainability

By Jean-Sébastien Silvestre

The PARCC is pleased to announce the successful completion of Phase 2 of our comprehensive decarbonization Green PARCC program.

Energy Infrastructure & Infrastructure Optimization

Supported by a combined investment of €340,000 from Université Paris Cité and Inserm, we have modernized our facilities to drastically reduce energy consumption:

– High-Efficiency Cooling Unit : We have deployed a next-generation system with low Global Warming Potential, ensuring enhanced operational reliability and reduced maintenance requirements.

– Integrated Free Cooling : This system utilizes fresh outdoor air to cool our most energy-intensive areas, including our computer server room, cryostats, and our biobank (housing over 30 freezing units).

Operational Impact: These technological upgrades achieve a reduction in electricity consumption of up to 75% for facility cooling.

Circular Economy & Sustainable Laboratory Practices

Beyond infrastructure, PARCC embeds sustainability into everyday laboratory practices through circular recycling, optimized bio-waste management, and strict hazard segregation to reduce its environmental and biological footprint.

Our Commitment

By adhering to these rigorous environmental protocols, PARCC is proud to lead the way toward a more sustainable and responsible scientific future.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Université Paris Cité and Inserm for their essential financial support, which has turned our vision for a sustainable research environment into a reality.
