PARCC – Leducq Foundation
We are incredibly proud to announce that Dr. Nabila Bouatia-Naji, a leading researcher at the Paris Cardiovascular Research Center (PARCC), has been awarded a highly competitive grant to participate the groundbreaking ALIGN-FMD (Advancing Learning and Innovation in a Global Network for Fibromuscular Dysplasia) Network!
This prestigious funding from the Leducq Foundation recognizes Dr. Bouatia-Naji’s significant contributions to cardiovascular research and her dedication to understanding cardiovascular diseases in women.
Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD) is a complex disease affecting arteries, often leading to serious complications like stroke and heart attack, and disproportionately impacting women. Despite its prevalence, FMD remains poorly understood and lacks specific treatments.
The ALIGN-FMD Network brings together an international team of world-leading scientists, doctors, and FMD experts. Under the co-coordination of Dr. Santhi Ganesh (University of Michigan, USA) and Dr. Jason Kovacic (Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Australia), alongside Pr. stephanie Debette (Bordeaux Population Health Research Center, France), Mark LINDSAY (Massachusetts General Hospital, USA) and Manuel MAYR (Imperial College London UK), this collaborative initiative will tackle crucial gaps in FMD knowledge. Their mission is to unravel the genetic and mechanistic underpinnings of FMD, ultimately paving the way for new diagnostic tools and therapies.
Dr. Bouatia-Naji’s leadership in this global effort underscores PARCC’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge research in cardiovascular health. We are thrilled to see her expertise recognized on such an international stage and look forward to the transformative impact the ALIGN-FMD Network will have on patients worldwide.
